On the 24th of November we had a book fair in the library. The book fair lasted for a week. They sold pens,rubbers,posters,crafts and schoolastic books. The book fair had a goal to get over $750.
For Maths for the next two weeks we are having fun with measures. We are learning about capacity, length and weight. We are working in teams of 6 and moving around different stations.
·The war started when Adolf Hitler who led the Nazis tried to take land off Poland
·Britain and France declared war because the Nazis wouldn’t stop their invasion of Poland
·WW2 involved 61 countries with 1.7 billion people
·50 million people lost their lives and hundreds of millions of people were injured
·Many children had to grow up fast because they had to look after themselves and their sisters and brothers because their dad had gone to fight in the war and their mum had to work.
·Nearly 2 million children were evacuated from their homes to escape the bombing - they went to live in the country
·There wasn’t a lot of food – it had to evened out amongst all the families
·Children spent time living in air raid shelters in case bombs got dropped on their houses
·Many children and their parents were imprisoned and killed because they were Jewish – in the gas chambers
. Germany surrendered on May the 8th 1945 this is victory Europe day or VE Day.
·It must have been a very awful time – I hope there are no more wars
